Massage
If you are experiencing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, are in treatment and are having side effects, massage therapy can help in a variety of ways.
Massage can complement your treatments by easing muscle tension and pain, reducing stress and promoting relaxation. Symptoms of nausea and fatigue may be reduced with gentle, supportive massage, and you may sleep more soundly. Some patients experience a sense of energy and optimism which can extend relief of symptoms in the days following your session.
Massage therapy that includes range of motion and gentle stretching will help you feel like exercising and enjoying your favorite recreational activities. The sessions you have with your therapist will help you feel cared for and supported.
Contact our office for more information about the benefits of receiving massage therapy during your treatment, recovery and after. We are here to help you.
Swedish (Relaxation) Massage
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork consisting of long, flowing strokes in combination with rolling, kneading, compressions and percussion to help the body improve circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork include relief from general stress, aches and pains, increased mental clarity, improved appearance in skin tone, and greater flexibility.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for active people who engage in athletics, either on a regular basis, or for the week-end warrior trying to do too much too soon. Engaging in sports is a stress on the body and can often lead to injuries if you are not prepared. Sports Massage enhances performance by helping to prevent injury, reduce pain and swelling, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery time.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that targets the deep layers of tissue in the body to relieve tension. It is highly effective in releasing chronic holding patterns due to stress, repetitive use, poor posture and scar tissue that has formed as a result of previous injuries or surgery.
Trigger Point Therapy
This type of therapy is a therapeutic modality for the relief and control of myofascial pain and dysfunction. The treatment consists of trigger point compression and massage. Success may be measured subjectively by the level of pain reduction experienced by the client and objectively through increased range of motion, strength, endurance, and other measures of improved function.
Prenatal (Pregnancy) Massage
Prenatal Massage helps alleviate discomfort in general and especially in areas such as the the lower back as pregnancy progresses. The benefits of massage during pregnancy are many and include relief from back discomfort, reduction of joint pain due to extra weight gain and postural imbalance. Massage provides relief from digestive discomfort, improves circulation and promotes a deep sense of relaxation.
The Veterans Project
Perham Therapeutic Massage will provide a free massage to any veteran of the US military returning from a war zone in the past 12 months as our "thank you" for your service to this country. Please bring your passport or plane ticket stub as proof you have returned from a war zone in the past 12 months.
On Veteran's Day, all active and retired veterans (and their spouse) can make an appointment and receive half off the regular rate for a one-hour session. Sessions are by appointment only and are limited.
